3/4/2010; On the move again

As we pulled away from Jekyll Harbor Marina this morning we experienced a bunch of feelings; some sadness, of course, that we were leaving such a neat place, new friends and a sense of belonging. Over all, it was a great place to spend some time. We'll be back. As the sun shone, and the wind howled, we could feel the excitement building; warm air, here we come!  Cumberland Island's National Seashore & Park will be our first stop. Fact is, we are achored there now. Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans, & box wine. How much better than that can it get? OK; how about heat in the boat. It is supposed to get down to 25 tonight with the wind chill and all that. Nothing really new so far for this trip. Once again we find ourselves being amazed at the tidal ranges & the currents that blast thru the anchorages. If you'll look at the photo of the ramp down to the dock you may get an idea of the tidal heights down here. The lady on the ramp was about 5' tall. Thank goodness for floating docks. Friday's plan is to dinghy in to Plum Orchard dock & explore this part of the island in the morning, then yank the anchor and move downriver 6 miles to hike out to the beach for a bit. Depending on the time & weather we may anchor for the night or move further South. Saturday should see us in Fernandina Beach Florida .  We'll pick up a mooring there, explore the town, refuel, and head for the St. John's River . Short trip today; short report. Hopefully, we'll have more for you tomorrow. Stay warm

Glad to see the traveling reports. I've been checking out the places you're going to on Google earth and discovering places I've never heard of.
